Fishermen on the Florida Suncoast are fortunate to have fishable weather year round. And, we are blessed with an incredible variety of fish. Although there are many ways to fish our local waters, my charter specialty aboard the K.O. Kid, is live bait fishing both the near shore and offshore waters of the Suncoast.
Spring and fall offer the widest selection of target species. Migrating fish, such as, king mackerel, tuna, cobia, sailfish, amberjack, and sharks, join our local fish populations. Some of these fish are migrating up or down the coast while others are simply moving inshore or offshore.
Winter is an excellent time to catch some of the best eating fish of the year. Local favorites, grouper and snapper, are available year round but early winter typically finds these fish just a short distance from the beach.
Summer is a time for trophy picture fish. Tarpon, snook, goliath grouper, barracuda, and sharks are usually willing to put on a show that will impress any angler. After a tug of war with one of these trophies, you will truly have the pictures and stories of a lifetime.
